Chinese comfort food.

When it comes to home cooked chinese comfort food, Mann Hann never fails :) We always get takeout from them whether its for lunch or dinner on Sundays.

Here’s what we usually order: (glassware and cutlery from our house)

Kikiam: Ground pork and veggies wrapped in beancurd sheets

Fresh Lumpia: carrots, green beans, tofu, ground pork (optional), baby shrimp, lettuce, cilantro, ground peanuts, fried noodles, seaweed, fried scallions

Maki Mi: Sliced pork(formed into balls), soysauce, eggs, spring onions, egg noodles

Chinese Fried Rice: Chinese ham, eggs, spring onionsBuko sherbet: Shaved ice, buko(coconut), pinipig (crispy pounded rice flakes), black gulaman (jelly), tapioca

And of course, we had to wash it all down with..

Merienda: California Pizza Kitchen

First of all, I apologize for the delay in my posts. (Haha! I’m always halfway done or actually done eating when I remember that I haven’t taken a photo of what I ate, yes, I’m a pig that way.) You see, its been a long time that I last maintained a blog and since my old camera died on me (2 years ago!), I never bothered taking photos of anything. Anyway, since I bought a lumix lx5 last month, I decided to start anew with blogging.

Anyway, I was at Alabang Town Center with my sisters a few weeks ago and we decided to have merienda at CPK. I usually order the barbecue chicken chopped salad but my sisters don’t eat vegetables so we ordered barbecue chicken pizza, kung pao chicken spaghetti and tomato basil spaghettini instead.

The barbecue chicken pizza and kung pao chicken spaghetti was really good! My sisters had the red onions removed which was okay with me since I don’t really like red onions. I love cilantro though so I asked for extra and topped my pizza with lots and lots of cilantro. A lot of my friends really hate cilantro so I usually ask for it to be served on the side. The spaghetti was perfect, al dente and the sauce wasn’t too much.

ORIGINAL BBQ CHICKEN PIZZA: bbq chicken, gouda, cilantro, gouda (sisters had the red onions removed)

KUNG PAO CHICKEN SPAGHETTI: chicken, kung pao sauce, chilis, green onions and peanuts

I wasn’t happy with the tomato basil spaghettini though. For a pasta place, they should’ve perfected this dish since its very basic. The dish lacked in flavor. Could’ve been better if they added some more salt and pinch of sugar.

TOMATO BASIL SPAGHETTINI: tomatoes, basil, garlic slivers

Over all, CPK is still a great restaurant. I’ll try to eat there again.

A fresh start.

Anthony Bourdain (Celebrity Chef and host of No Reservations) said: “To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living.”

Well..to me, life without bacon, butter, lechon (roast pig), peking duck, steak, crab fat and anything without sugar is a life not worth living. I started this blog so I can share random thoughts about food and whatnot. So watch me conquer the world, one meal at a time.
